Sat. May 26th – 7:30 p.m. - DVRR Benefit Concert featuring The Heritage Singers at Northminster United Church. Money raised will help to pay the monthly expenses for the Al-Awaze family. Please see poster on notice board on the stairs. Tickets $15 (children $5) available from M Mancer.

A Truth and Reconciliation event is being held in Toronto May 31, June 1 and June 2, 2012. The event, called The Meeting Place, will be held at the Sheraton Centre Hotel, 123 Queen Street West. The occasion will give survivors of the residential school system, as well as staff of the schools, an opportunity to tell the stories of their experiences and in so doing reveal the truth about this period of Canada’s history. The event is open to the public and will give the wider society an opportunity to bear witness to this testimony and also attend workshops on related topics. Gaining an understanding of this history and its aftermath will enable us to move toward reconciliation and a just and honourable society in the future. It will be held June 8th at 7:00 p.m. to June 9th at 3:00 p.m. at Emmanuel College. This is an event for teens 15-30 years old who may be interested in considering a vocation in the ministry. Deadline for registration is May 1, 2012. For more information, please speak to Rev. Cindy

Sat. June 9th – 12:00 noon tee-off time. Annual CJUC Golf Tournament at the Whispering Ridge course at Lakeridge Golf Club. Fees are $100 if you walk and $115 if you take a power cart, and include golf, dinner, prizes and lots of fun. Contact K Shikaze if you want to join in the fun. Please invite your friends to join us. June 16 – 18 YOU ARE INVITED to the United Church event “MORE than FRANCHISES ~ A Fresh Brew” which provides opportunity for people to gather from across the land. Over 1100 people have attended the last two events. More than Franchises is happening at Emmanuel College in Toronto. With over 80 workshops to choose from plus four dynamic keynote speakers, you are sure to find insights to meet our longings for revitalization in our congregations. Thurs. Sept. 27, 2012 - UCW/Men's Club plan a carefree day trip to enjoy the musical Ragtime at the Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake. Bus transportation, lunch at Queen's Landing Hotel - tickets $132.00. Sign-up will start April 1st. Please see Tina or Henry. Chilean Flavour Cookbook is available from Juanita at a cost of $20.00. The proceeds from this book that contains beautiful pictures and delicious recipes from Chile will go to support social projects that will improve the quality of life for vulnerable sectors in Chile, primarily women and children.

OYM has decided to save used stamps once more. We invite CJUC to join us. Please bring your used stamps to the church on Sundays and give them to M Felker or leave them in the box on the table in the church office. Just tear the stamp off the corner of the envelope - it does not have to be removed from its backing. The stamps will be delivered to the Leprosy office on 16th Avenue. Thank you.
